This has been my mantra over the last few days as we’ve struggled with our desired timing versus God’s timing. I frequently reflected on Psalm 27:14 over the last week or so.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

Today the Lord showed His grace to us once again. My wife awoke this morning with some sporadic contractions. She was unsure as to whether we should trek to the hospital or not. After a call to the on-call nurse, we headed out. We arrived at the hospital just before 10am.

After our arrival, we found ourselves waiting again as the nurses connected Janna to all the monitoring equipment. Finally, the on-call doctor stopped by with the message that we would be staying and, with any luck, delivering the baby soon. We moved to the Labor & Delivery room around 1:30pm. After the epidural and some more waiting, my wife gave me “the” look and said, “Look out there to see if the nurse is there, I think he’s coming.” I obeyed. Then, we waited some more, as the on-call doctor was no longer on the premises. Hudson Bryan was born at 3:55pm weighing in at 7 lbs even and 19 1/4″ long. He’s healthy and doing great…as is mama.

We are so grateful to have so many loving friends and family who have been faithfully praying for us during this entire pregnancy and with even greater fervency over the last week (and I should, also, mention our thankfulness for the wonderful expressions of generosity)!! Today is an example of those moments in life when God’s graciousness and goodness is overwhelmingly, abundantly evident! We are truly humbled!!
